Meet DOIT during the IML Conference in Passau 2018, where Salzburg Research will hold a workshop on “Social Innovation in Makerspaces as a Means for Media Literacy? – Exemplary tools and projects for children between 6 and 16 as preparation to create a better world”.
DOIT will combine a short introduction (presentation of 20 minutes) to maker education and the DOIT approach in the field of education of social innovators in makerspace settings and explain why this should be of interest for media literacy development as well. Within another 20-40 minutes we will show and experiment with a set of tools and projects, which were developed in DOIT to show practically opportunities and results. We will present the friendly garbage bin (says “thank you”), an interactive game building upon a robot for very young coders and similar project (results). In a final discussion, we would like to sum up feedback from the audience concerning the relevance for the traditional perspective of media literacy.
The workshop will take place on November 23rd, from 16:00 to 17:30 at the University of Passau, Germany.
