The key to great success is to do what are you passionate about. It is an old true but how many of us have enough courage to follow it? Yes, it definitely requires a lot of courage and effort to strive for your dreams. Especially if you are a young boy who dreams about becoming a professional cook and open your own restaurant. Sound like any other childish dream? What makes it different from others is that Rokas Galvonas, who has been this little dreaming boy many years ago, has already achieved his goal and became a chief in his own restaurant “Roko virtuvė”.
It all began when Rokas was just a 5 years old. As he now tells us, at that time, when he was cooking and baking his very first meals and cupcakes, he clearly understoot what does he want to become in the future – a professional cook. This understanding help him to go in the right direction: at the age of 12 he started to take his first orders and make the very first income and being just 16 years old he was emancipated and started to run his own business. So in 2016 he opened his first kitchen ad it was just a beginning.
As Rokas claims, the biggest challenge to overcome was a financial situation. There is no need to mention that establishing your own business requires both efforts and money. But this boy was so devoted to the realization of his dream that even these circumstances could’nt stop him – he lend some money from his family and successfully started to hire his team. It didin’t take much time until his kitchen started to generate enough money to finally feel financially stable. And not long after he was ready to expand his business.
Later on he opened his second kitchen and his first restaurant – “Roko virtuvė”. It is located in Taujėnai, a small town in Lithuania and it is known as a one of the most popular places to visit. What makes it so popular? “It might be my age. The fact that I am only a teenager makes me unique and different from my competitors in the market” – says Rokas. Of course, it is not the main reason – “Roko virtuvė” is recognized for its high quality food and services. That’s why in 2017 his restaurant was named as the healthiest in the whole region. Rokas says that their menu consists of only natural and ecological products, which are supplied by various farmers.
So it is quite clear that he was born to be a chef. But where did those entrepreneurial skills come from? It turns out that Rokas’ father has also been a part of a business world and always has been an example for his son. His father and the rest of the family encouraged Rokas to work hard and supported him in every way possible. They all knew it was the right choice for their son: when Rokas was a child, he didin’t want to get any constructors or other boyish things for Christmas – all he ever wanted at that time was his own gas-stove for cooking. And it says a lot about how serious this young boy was about his plans.
“It is true that not everyone, who wants to be an entrepreneur, can become one. It requires so much time and effort that sometimes people cannot handle all of it and just quit. For me, it was just a pleasure to work so hard for what I’ve dreamt my whole childhood.” And, consideriing the fact that this young entrepreneur is just 18 years old now and still working hard to achieve more, it seems like here we have a success story which will be supplemented with even greater victories in the future.
